Some Do’s And Don’ts For The Best Product Designing

As soon as a new project is handed over to the product designing team, it is all good in the beginning because the aim of the product, the problem and the target audience is well defined. But gradually, as the product designing process moves forward, the vision distorts, more problems are created and the product designers are deviated from solving the actual problem and are found doing something else only.

It is not their fault completely. The typical product design process many of the design studios in India follow make them do so. In the race of creating something new and unique, the product designers forget who the target audience are and what do they actually need. For an example, if the designer is asked to design a simple sofa that is more comfortable, the process will take him to all the ups and downs and he might end up creating a fantastic looking sofa with minimal comfort. Was this the actual aim of getting the sofa designed.

A product designer should put himself in the shoes of the customer instead of taking himself as the customer. He may or may not get a chance to use the sofa he is designing but he needs to think from the customer point of view and come up with an excellent prototype that caters to all the requirements given by the client.

At Studio ABD, we follow a very comprehensive approach to product designing. And, after adding every new element to the design, we brainstorm and see if our team is working in the right direction.
